Métis Nation awarded funding by National Energy Board

first_imgMétis Nation, B.C. will be recieving funding to help them take part in the regulatory process of the proposed Komie North Extension Project. The National Energy Board awarded a total of $22,500 to the area.- Advertisement -The funding will help the recipients review a project application to be submitted by NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd., a subsidiary of TransCanada Pipelines Limited. The funds must be used to prepare for and participate in the hearing process.The proposed Komie North Extension Project intends to construct and operate four new segments of pipeline. Some of the new segements will run alongside existing rights-of-way, while some will require new land. They will transport and receive natural gas from the Horn River Area of B.C. across to Alberta. The segments would add another 166 kilometres to the current Alberta System.Métis Nation was chosen because of the reasonability of the amount requested, as well as its potential to bring unique information to the public hearing process.If the project is approved, the extension will be in service by April 2014.Advertisementlast_img read more
