first_img Tagged with: fundraising events Scotland Bond scheme offers fundraising opportunity for charities Melanie May | 6 January 2016 | News Scottish outdoor fundraising event the Caledonian Challenge is inviting charities to sign up to participate through its newly launched Third Sector Bond Scheme.Charities have until 18th January to apply, and the fee per charity is £250 per place.The Scheme has been launched to celebrate the event’s 20th year, and invites charities, social enterprises or community organisations to sign up in teams of four to take part in either the 24 hour, 54-mile route: THE 54, or the shorter 12 hour, 24-mile route: THE 24, on the weekend of the 11th and 12th June 2016 and raise money for their own causes.The event has been raising funds for Scottish grant maker Foundation Scotland since its launch in 1996, and the route takes participants past the Great Glen Way and Ben Nevis, and down the West Highland Way before crossing the finish line at Strathfillan, south of Tyndrum.Giles Ruck, CEO of Foundation Scotland said:“What better way to celebrate the 20th year of the Caledonian Challenge, but to extend its legacy.  By giving charitable organisations the opportunity to enter teams and raise money for their causes not only will it help us at Foundation Scotland extend our charitable outreach but we hope it will encourage more people to participate in the event.”Since the first event in 1996, over 18,000 participants have raised more than £14m to support charities and community organisations across Scotland.Interested charities can find more information by emailing [email protected], visiting the site  or filling in an enquiry form.
